Clean off your desk:
Tips from Unclutter Professional Organizing
Schedule the time to achieve this goal. Set aside at least 4 hours for the first half, wear comfortable clothes, and play your favorite music.
Clear off your desk. Take everything out of and off of the desk. Make a large piles on the floor or into baskets.
Scrub and Polish. Clean and polish your desk with disinfectant then with polish until it looks shiny and new.
Toss, Toss, Toss: Begin the purging process. Over 80% of the papers on your desk can probably be trashed! Now take a break after everything has been gone through. Escape for a least an hour and while you are out, purchase the following: New tablets, a pen/pencil caddy, a vertical file holder, fresh manila folders, and a holder for disks & CD-roms if needed.
Time to put things back. Papers that are not everyday should go in the filing cabinet. Everyday should go in the new vertical file holder. Label files clearly. Put the phone back on the desk along with the computer. The new tablet next to the phone. Set up the pen caddy. Get rid of pens that don't write and broken pencils. Supplies should go in a drawer. Put pictures on the wall. CDs & disks in the new holders. Take at least 5 minutes each night to keep the desk clear.
Promise to never let your desk disappear again.
